Turnaround of Elle. Silent Hill Homecoming. The final version of Elle in the game has a different head. That was done after I left the company. Without hair. The hair was always temp. We had been waiting for a hair shader but it never came...

She looks like a creepy Sinead O'Connor :). In a good way. In the game she looks more like something they pulled out of the House of Wax.

Well, originally we wanted all the characters to look creepy. They could be attractive but we wanted them to be kind of freaky as well. Like what no sleep and living in Silent Hill does to a person after a time. I was really disappointed with what they did to her. But I left so there really isn't anything I can really say or do about it. I still have my model and thats the important thing.

I like the idea of Elle looking a bit more creepy. Anyway, in the game she looks waxy and strange. It's kind of a mixed bag, since some elements in the game are really great (the sound design, the lighting, Alex's movements, the design of the monsters, etc), and some are not-so-great by next-gen standards (many washed out textures, hit-or-miss facial animations, the same wall textures copy-pasted in different locations, etc.).
Did you design other monsters/characters, or just these? Do you have 3D renders of judge Holloway?

All of my designs are in this gallery. Everything else was designed by the other character artists. We all can draw so each of us designed several characters. I was the lead character artist and had allot of other tasks to do than just creating artwork.

I did not model in the the Judge or Asphyxia. I just concepted them.

Don't know why but she reminds me of Trinity from Matrix. Especially her eyebrows, eyes and lips. Damn, in game she looks like doll with her terrible lips full of silicone!!!

I am a fan of trinity from Matrix. So I will take that as a compliment.

I was very disappointed they redid the head for her. And that what they went with looked like a plastic surgery victim. We had tried to keep all the characters creepy. Beautiful but creepy. It was a free for all after I left. They lost the lead artist and lead character artist(me). Not sure who's decision it was to change her but I think it was a bad call. But of course I am biased. Honestly if it had been a cool head I would have been ok with it. I just don't like the head they went with. Oh well. Spilled milk....

Oh man, I loved silent hill V! That game was so scary. Did you do the model, the texture, or all of it? It looks really great :] What software did you use? Max, Maya, zbrush, mudbox, photoshop...? A combination of all of those?

On Silent Hill I did everything pertaining to characters except rig and animate them. I concepted, modeled and textured. There were 5 of us making the characters for that game. We used Maya, XSI, Zbrush, Mudbox and Photoshop. I think I used some Bodypaint and crazy bump as well. Glad you liked the game.
